I did contact him, and he liked the design. However, I couldn't get enough preorders to make it work, and then the price of silver started going up, so I have put it on the back burner for now.

Still, I haven't given up.

Sorry, I can't leave this alone:

Introduction (to the CBO report) -- The housing bubble that burst in 2007 and led to a financial crisis can be traced back to federal government intervention in the U.S. housing market...

Housing is just one area where government meddles. The aim was noble enough, I suppose; help more people buy/own houses. But, some people (and we all know some of them) simply are not responsible enough to take on the kind of commitment. The banks weeded these out by refusing to loan them money; that is until the government stepped in and applied pressure.

And, let's not forget the inevitable corruption that comes with a handful of people having access to this much money and power.

The site reminds me of the Brady Bunch site, no comments allowed.

"...the mortgage system collapse and the ensuing deep financial crisis have given most Americans a renewed appreciation of the importance of government and the vital roles it plays in our society."

NOT! I suggest reading the CBO's (not a hotbed of conservatism or libertarianism) report on said subject: http://www.freerepublic.com/%5Ehttp://republicans.oversight.house.gov/media/pdfs/20090707HousingCrisisReport.pdf

"...nobody is talking about privatizing Social Security anymore."

Social Security will be running in deficit mode in a few years. The date depends on who to talk to, but it is coming.

This place is way to creepy -- I need to take a shower now.

I didn't see this on the site, but it's too good to pass on: Obama says "...UPS and FedEX are doing okay, but the Post Office is having problems." He accidentally (no other way to put it) spoke the truth. The government actually has (Constitutional) authority for the Post Office...but CAN'T get it right. UPS and FedEX (as we all know) are evil capitalist businesses.

I should have added that a real right can not impose an obligation on someone else.

Healthcare, provided by others, can't be a right because you would have to force doctors to provide it for you, or force others to pay for it for you. You have a right to seek healthcare for yourself and enter into any voluntary relationship with a healthcare provider that you can reach an agreement with. That's as far as "a right to healthcare" goes.

Nicely said. I've had an argument with many people about whether health care is a "right" or not.

They can't understand the idea that just because something's a RIGHT doesn't mean you have the guarantee of access to it.

I compared them thusly: if you have a right to healthcare and the forced taxation on me to pay for your health care, why don't I have the right to a firearm and the forced taxation to make you buy me a gun?

Another point that seems to be missed - often: that something is wrong does not negate the idea that you may do it anyway (something you've been pointing out lately.)

People seem to jump to a strange conclusion - the idea of ZAP somehow indicates that those of us who hold it to be a universal principle also seem to be naïvely certain that if it really were a universal principle, no one would ever do it. Such a silly notion! The idea that rape is morally wrong seems to be a universal principle: but that doesn't stop evil people from raping....
